A good Government Program?

The White House Commission on Remembrance is an independent government agency whose missions include:

Promoting the spirit of unity and remembrance through observance of The National Moment of Remembrance at 3 PM local time on Memorial Day;

Ensuring the nation remembers the sacrifices of America's fallen from the Revolutionary War to the present;

Recognizing those who served and those who continue to serve our great nation and reminding all Americans of their common heritage.

Ronald Reagan in his farewell speech had only one warning. It seems to me that Ronnie was spot on. He warned:

"Our spirit is back, but we haven't reinstitutionalized it. We've got to do a better job of getting across that America is freedom - freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of enterprise. And freedom is special and rare. It's fragile; it needs production [protection]."

He asks, "Are we doing a good enough job teaching our children what America is and what she represents in the long history of the world?"

The White House Commission on Remembrance offers medals to the sons and daughters of the service members that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. With the tone of the MSM and elected officials like Murtha, Reid, and Pelosi, I can only imagine that some of these family members may feel their loss was in vain.

I noticed that The White House Commission on Remembrance only receives 250,000 tax-payer dollars. I am not saying that it should be more, but when we've had earmarks for a “bridge to nowhere “ ($230,000,000) and a Woodstock museum ($1,000,000), priorities in DC seem a little out of touch.
